POSITION OVERVIEW 
 
IGNITE is looking for an energetic & enthusiastic Website Support Assistant to join their growing team. This role involves supporting the management of IGNITE’s digital platforms & properties, including third-party tools & technology, and the production of associated assets. This role will primarily support the Marketing & Communications team; however, collaboration across IGNITE’s other functional groups will be required to ensure cohesiveness. 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES 
 
Duties include but are not limited to 
 
  • Relationship building & collaboration with key internal & external stakeholders, including service providers. 
  • Maintenance of and content updates to the existing IGNITE website (WordPress), as well as connected tools & technology, including but not limited to: Eventbrite, MailChimp, and Zendesk. Key activities include: copy & image updates, event creation & publication, email development & deployment, and student engagement & support. 
  • Proactive review of & enhancements to the existing IGNITE website and connected tools & technology. Support the improvement of the digital student experience, working with service providers to update and/or create new user journeys, UX/UI designs, feature updates, and alike. Work with internal & external stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of assets & feedback. 
  • Analyze the effectiveness of existing processes, identifying gaps and/or pain points that may be alleviated by introducing new digital solutions. Where possible, collaborating with developers to identify opportunities for consolidation of tools & technology. 
  • Ongoing maintenance of the website (ignitestudentlife.com) and associated tasks, including but not limited to the review of manual student approvals, updates to the master student list, as well as the same for various site pages. 
  • Assisting the web development team with all aspects of website and application design. 
  • Assisting with the testing and maintenance of backend and front-end applications. 
  • Brainstorming new tech applications such as digital storage and mobile technology. 
  • Keeping up-to-date with the latest technology and programming trends. 
  • Converting video, audio, written, and graphic components into compatible formats for the web.

  • Solid understanding of web design and development principles. 
  • Willingness to learn new tools & technologies 
 
QUALIFICATIONS 
 
  • Must either be a current Humber College or University of Guelph-Humber fee-paying student for the 2024/25 school year.
  • Must commit a minimum of 24 hours/week 
  • Experience working on both the front and back-end of websites 
  • Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, & PHP considered a strong asset.  
  • Knowledge of software prototyping and UX/ UI design tools including Figma 
  • Familiarity & experience working with WordPress CMS interface, Elementor 
  • Experience is Web Hosting/ Domain technologies including WPengine, AWS,  
  • Familiarity with Adobe products - e.g. Photoshop - is considered an asset 
  • Proficiency across all Microsoft Office applications - e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. 
  • Knowledge of Web Security and Accessibility (AODA, WCAG 2.0)
