POSITION OVERVIEW
The Videographer is responsible for capturing, editing, and producing high-quality video and photography content for IGNITE. The primary focus will be creating content for YouTube and major marketing campaigns, with event coverage as needed. This role requires proficiency in camera operation, lighting, and post-production editing to ensure the successful execution of video projects. In addition to filming, videographers will be responsible for event and promotional photography to enhance IGNITE’s media library. Videographers will also create content for IGNITE’s YouTube channel, collaborating on brainstorming, storyboarding, and scripting video content. They will support the Marketing & Communications team by researching trends, identifying video opportunities, and ensuring video content aligns with IGNITE’s brand and target audience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties include but are not limited to
- Brainstorm and plan video content in relation to promoting IGNITE services, events, and advocacy initiatives.
- Produce a wide variety of video content, including both filming and editing, for all IGNITE services, events, and initiatives.
- Identify interview subjects, arrange and conduct interviews for video production.
- Capture high-quality event and promotional photography, including biannual media library photoshoots
- Coordinate and organize photoshoots, scouting locations, procuring models, and post-production editing
- Contribute to the YouTube content strategy, assisting with brainstorming, storyboarding, and scripting
- Collaborate with the graphic design team to ensure video content aligns with IGNITE’s brand, including assisting with the creation of thumbnail images, on-screen graphics, and other visual elements
- Ensure proper file organization and asset management for video and photo content
- Support the Marketing & Communications department in other related tasks contributing to the successful operation of the unit
- Brainstorm creative video ideas and stay up to date with emerging trends in video and social media.
- Ensure adherence to IGNITE’s Brand Guidelines and Style Guide.
COMPETENCIES
- Proficiency in video production techniques, including camera operation, lighting, and post-production editing
- Strong photography skills, including event and promotional photography
- Strong understanding of visual storytelling, composition, and directing talent on set
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- A successful track record working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Creative problem-solving and adaptability in a high-volume production setting
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be a current Humber College or University of Guelph-Humber fee-paying student at the time of application.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in videography; portfolio with 3 video samples required.
- Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro; knowledge of After Effects is an asset
- Strong technical skills in camera operation, lighting, and composition
- Experience conducting interviews and directing talent on set
- Experience creating motion graphics is an asset
- Excellent storytelling, communication, and time management skills
- Occasional evening and/or weekend availability may be required
